The Further Adventures of Sherlock Holmes is a series of radio dramas based on Arthur Conan Doyle's detective Sherlock Holmes. Sir Arthur Ignatius Conan Doyle, DL (22 May 1859 – 7 July 1930 was an Anglo-Scottish Author most noted for his stories about the Sherlock Holmes is a famous fictional detective of the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries who first appeared in Publication in 1887 Written by Bert Coules as a pastiche of Doyle's work, the series was broadcast on BBC Radio 4 in 2002 and 2004 and there were ten episodes. Bert Coules is a radio writer mainly for the BBC, who has produced many adaptations and original works most notably the Sherlock Holmes radio series starring The word pastiche describes a literary or other artistic Genre. A third series of five new stories is currently being written by Bert Coules. Clive Merrison starred as Holmes, having portrayed the detective in a complete canonical run for Radio 4 (the only actor to successfully do so to date). Clive Merrison (born 15 September 1945) is a Welsh Actor of Film, Television, Stage and Radio Andrew Sachs appeared as Doctor Watson. Andrew Sachs (born Andreas Siegfried Sachs, 7 April 1930 is a German - British actor. Sachs had replaced Michael Williams after Williams died following the Radio 4 run of Sherlock Holmes adaptations. Michael Leonard Williams ( 9 July 1935 &ndash 11 January 2001) was a British Actor. Each of the stories was based on a throwaway reference from an actual Doyle short story or novel.

Four of the episodes of each of the two series were released on cassette and compact disc by the BBC Radio Collection in 2002 and 2004. The recordings of the first series omit the episode "The Peculiar Persecution of Mr John Vincent Harden. " The recordings of the second series omit the episode "The Striking Success of Miss Franny Blossom. " The compact disc release of the second series also features a bonus interview with Bert Coules at the conclusion of disc four.
