Texture mapping units (also known as graphical pipelines) is a component in a video card. In Computing, a pipeline is a set of data processing elements connected in series so that the output of one element is the input of the next one A TMU rotates and resizes a bitmap to be placed onto an arbitrary plane of a given 3D object as a "texture". [1]
