Rocketsports was founded in 1985 by racing driver Paul Gentilozzi to compete in the Trans-Am series. Paul Gentilozzi (born February 6, 1950 in Lansing Michigan) is a race car driver and businessman The Trans-Am Series was created in 1966 by the SCCA as the Trans-American Sedan Championship. Rocketsports joined Champ Car in 2003 and has often fielded cars for pay drivers and frequently changed drivers.
