Pinus oocarpa (Pino Amarillo, pino avellano) or (Mexican yellow pine, hazelnut pine) is a tree native to the New World. Diederich von Schlechtendal ( 27 November 1794 - 12 October 1866) was a German Botanist born in Xanten. The New World is one of the names used for the non-Eurasian/non-African parts of the Earth specifically the Americas and Australia. It appears that it was the progenitor (original) species that served as the ancestor for some of the other pines of Mexico.
