Criticism

Several consumers have reported hinge problems with the Nintendo DS Lite

Upon intitial release of the unit, there have been a number of growing complaints concerning the hinge stability of the Nintendo DS Lite. Many consumers have reported the joint that holds the top screen to the console becomes brittle, even after casual use, resulting in cracks that eventually leave the unit unplayable. ^[8]

Nintendo has confirmed the defect, but claim the percentage of such flaws is only 0. 02% of all Nintendo DS Lites sold. Repairs for cracked hinges are now covered under the Nintendo warranty and will be fixed free of charge. ^[9]

Space Invaders Extreme is a re-vamped incarnation of the classic arcade game Space Invaders.

Guitar grip controller

The "Guitar Grip" fits into the GBA slot on the Nintendo DS Lite to simulate the guitar controller.

The Guitar grip controller comes packaged with the upcoming game Guitar Hero: On Tour and is plugged into the GBA game slot. Guitar Hero On Tour is a Music video game for the Nintendo DS system based on the Guitar Hero series of video games It features four colored buttons just like the ones that can be found on regular Guitar Hero guitar controllers for the stationary consoles, though it lacks the fifth orange button found on the guitar controllers. The DS Guitar Hero controller comes with a small "pick-stylus" (which is shaped like a guitar pick, as the name suggests) that can be put away into a small slot on the controller. It also features a hand strap. GameSpot has stated that the game will work with both the Nintendo DS Lite and the original Nintendo DS.
