Her Royal Highness is the daughter of journalist Sven O. Høiby and Marit Tjessem, his ex-wife. Sven Olav Bjarte Høiby ( November 14 1936 – March 21 2007) was the father of Crown Princess Mette-Marit of Norway She has a sister and two older brothers, and grew up in Kristiansand, in the southern part of Norway. The Crown Prince and Crown Princess' Humanitarian Fund was established in 2001 in connection with the wedding of the Crown Prince and Crown Princess.
