Kilgoris is a town in the Rift Valley Province, Kenya. Rift Valley Province of Kenya, bordering Uganda, is one of Kenya's seven administrative provinces outside Nairobi. The Republic of Kenya is a country in East Africa. It is bordered by Ethiopia to the north Somalia to the northeast Tanzania to the south It is the capital of the Trans Mara District. Trans Mara District is an administrative district in the Rift Valley Province of Kenya. The town has a population of 4500 (1999 census) [1] .
Masai are the prominent tribe in the area, though it is located near area inhabitated by the Gusii people. The Maasai are an indigenous African Ethnic group of semi-nomadic people located in Kenya and northern Tanzania. The Gusii language (also known as Kisii or Ekegusii) is a Bantu language spoken in the Kisii district in western Kenya,whose head-quarters Some ethnic clashes have occurred between the tribes (e. g. , cattle raiding). The town is located near the popular Masai Mara National Park, but few tourists visit the town. The Masai Mara (also spelled Maasai Mara) is a large Park reserve in south-western Kenya, which is effectively the northern continuation of the Serengeti There is a good murram road from the town through the neighbouring town of Lolgorien to the Mara. This road takes you to the Oloololo side of the park and is a good alternative to the Narok road especially for anyone coming from Western Kenya.
