Hay Street is a major road through the CBD of Perth, Western Australia. A central business district ( CBD) is the commercial and often geographic heart of a city Perth is the capital and largest city of the Australian state of Western Australia. Western Australia is a state occupying the entire western third of the Australian continent. The street was named after Robert William Hay, the Permanent Under Secretary for Colonies. The Under-Secretary of State for the Colonies was a junior Ministerial post in the United Kingdom government subordinate to the Secretary of State for the Colonies and from Sections of the road were called Howick Street and Twiss Street until 1897[1]. Henry George Grey 3rd Earl Grey ( December 28, 1802 &ndash October 9, 1894) known as Viscount Howick Horace Twiss ( c 1787 &ndash 4 May 1849) was an English writer and politician born at Bath, being the son of Francis Twiss (1760-1827 Orientated east-west, the road starts at the Causeway traveling west through the suburbs of East Perth, Perth, West Perth, and Subiaco, where the road originally terminated at the Subiaco. In modern usage a causeway is a road or railway elevated by a bank usually across a broad Body of water or Wetland. East Perth is a suburb of Perth Western Australia, located next to the Perth CBD Perth is the capital and largest city of the Australian state of Western Australia. West Perth is a suburb 600 metres west of Perth, the capital city of Western Australia. Subiaco is an inner western suburb of Perth, Western Australia, situated to the north of Kings Park. History The line was the first suburban railway line in Perth opening on March 1, 1881. From that point it becomes Underwood Avenue through Jolimont, Floreat (past Perry Lakes) and ends in Swanbourne. Jolimont is a small suburb of Perth Western Australia, located within the City of Subiaco and west of the CBD. Floreat is a western suburb in the Western Australian city of Perth. Perry Lakes are lakes located in the Perth Western Australia suburb of Floreat. Swanbourne is a western coastal suburb of Perth, Western Australia and is an affluent locale with older homes being renovated and many new homes being built
