Green River is a city in southwestern Wyoming in Sweetwater County. The State of Wyoming ( is a sparsely populated state in the western region of the United States. Sweetwater County is a County located in the US state of Wyoming. The population was 11,808 at the 2000 census. It is the county seat of Sweetwater County. Green River was incorporated in 1868 in what was then the Dakota Territory.
