Early life

She attended Brandeis University earning B. Brandeis University is a private research University with a Liberal arts focus located in Waltham Massachusetts, United States. A Cum Laude in Theater Arts. After graduating from Brandeis, she moved to Paris and studied theater with actor Jacques LeCoq.

Career

Before Star Trek: The Next Generation, she was mostly known as a choreographer, often working on Jim Henson productions including the films The Dark Crystal, for which she was a choreographer, Labyrinth, for which she served as Director of Choreography and Puppet Movement, and The Muppets Take Manhattan, in which she has a brief on-screen appearance. In 1987, McFadden was cast as Dr. Beverly Crusher on Star Trek: The Next Generation. Doctor Beverly Crusher (born Beverly Howard) played by actress Gates McFadden, was a character on the Star Trek The Next Generation Star Trek The Next Generation ( STTNG or TNG) is an Emmy and Peabody Award-winning science fiction television program created by Gene Roddenberry The Crusher character was slated to be Captain Jean-Luc Picard's love interest, and this aspect of the character is what attracted McFadden to the role. Jean-Luc Picard is a Star Trek character primarily portrayed by Patrick Stewart. Another important aspect of the character was being a widow balancing motherhood and a career. McFadden left after the first season, in part because series executive producer Gene Roddenberry was never enthusiastic about casting McFadden in the first place. From the third season on, Dr. Crusher was still rather under-used, but the character was mellowed slightly. Her highlights include: The High Ground, in which Dr. " The High Ground " is the 60th episode of the Science fiction Television series Star Trek The Next Generation and the 12th episode Crusher is kidnapped by terrorists. Remember Me, when Dr. Crusher's fear of losing loved ones becomes real when her worries create an alternate reality. Suspicions, where Dr. " Suspicions " is an episode of the sixth season of the Science fiction television series Star Trek The Next Generation. Crusher puts her career on the line to prove a scientist's theoretical new technology. And Attached, in which Dr. Crusher and Picard are imprisoned and linked together via a telepathic device, discovering their true feelings for each other in the process. McFadden also directed the TNG episode Genesis and choreographed the dance routine in Data's Day. " Genesis " is a seventh-season Star Trek The Next Generation episode " Data's Day " is a fourth season episode of Star Trek The Next Generation.

McFadden co-starred in the 1990 comedy Taking Care of Business starring James Belushi and also co-starred another Star Trek: The Next Generation actor, John DeLancie (aka Q). McFadden also appeared in the made-for-television movie Crowned and Dangerous with Yasmine Bleeth in 1997. Crowned and Dangerous was a 1997 made-for-TV movie which was a thriller comedy that starred Yasmine Bleeth, Cassidy Rae Yasmine Amanda Bleeth (born June 14, 1968, in New York City) is an American TV and Film Actress.

In the spring of 2006, McFadden appeared in a series of television commercials for Microsoft. Microsoft Corporation is an American multinational Computer technology Corporation, which rose to dominate the Home computer

McFadden enjoys attending Star Trek Conventions and autograph signing events to meet fans.

McFadden now divides her time between Los Angeles and Languedoc, in the south of France, where she and her husband, John Talbot, are restoring an old theater.
