Meanwhile, Claire discovers the bottle of messages from the raft floating near the beach. She asks Shannon what to do, and the pair conclude that Sun should be the one to make the decision. Jack and Sayid inspect the mysterious concrete barricade blocking what appears to be a corridor to another section of the bunker. Sayid estimates the barrier to be 8 to 10 feet thick, then Jack demonstrates the magnetic force with the key around his neck. They go to the foundations of the bunker only to reveal that its blocked down there too. Sayid's inspection of the hatch raises some suspicions.
Later Jack hears noises. When he goes to see what it is he sees Kate wearing a towel, having just taken a shower.
At one point, Hurley has a strange dream. He drinks from a carton, with a picture of Walt on the side in the manner of a missing person's display. [1] Also in the same dream Jin is shown talking to Hurley in perfect English. When Hurley says he didn't know Jin could speak English, Jin replies that he's not and Hurley is speaking Korean. Hurley follows this by speaking Korean.
Hurley becomes less and less certain of his ability to ration the food in a manner that keeps everyone happy. He attempts to quit, but Locke refuses to permit it. Later, Hurley informs Jack of his decision to give the food all away, arguing that the food stores do not amount to very much when divided among all the survivors.
