This article is about the enlargement of the United Nations (UN) — a list of its member states sorted in chronological order according to their dates of admission to the UN. The United Nations ( UN) is an International organization whose stated aims are to facilitate cooperation in International law, International security This article lists the member states of the United Nations (UN. Currently there are 192 members states in the UN.

The names of the member states are listed according to the ones they used when they were originally admitted to the UN. The United Nations General Assembly resolutions which admitted the member states are also showed. A United Nations General Assembly Resolution is voted on by all member states of the United Nations in the General Assembly. Notes are given if a member state has changed its name since being admitted, or has its seat continued by a successor state. Succession of states is a theory in International relations regarding the recognition and acceptance of a newly created State by other states based on Former UN members whose seats were not continued by any state are displayed in italics.
