SST Records is an American Independent record label formed in 1978 in Long Beach California by musician Greg Ginn. Touch and Go Records is an Independent record label based in Chicago, Illinois, USA, which began life in 1979 in East Lansing Early releases by Dischord were relatively well-produced compared to other punk recordings of the time. Minor Threat's work is an example of these higher production values.

Dischord Records was also a key in the formative years of emo between 1985 and 1987.
