The Chiemgau is the name of an area of Upper Bavaria. Ruhpolding is a municipality of the Traunstein district in southeastern Bavaria, Germany. Upper Bavaria (Oberbayern is one of the seven administrative regions of Bavaria, Germany, located in the south of Bavaria around the city of Munich It refers to the foothills of the Alps. Foothills are geographically defined as gradual increases in hilly areas at the base of a Mountain range. The district is located in the Chiemgau. Rosenheim is a Kreis ( District) in the south of Bavaria, Germany. Wendelstein is the name of a mountain there.
