The city is the seat of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Caacupé. The Roman Catholic Diocese of Caacupé { Latin: Caacupen(sis } is a Diocese located in the city of Caacupé in the Ecclesiastical province Caacupé is best known for its major religious festival, held annually on 8 December in honour of the statuette of Our Lady of the Miracles. A statue is a Sculpture in the round representing a person or persons an animal or an event normally full-length as opposed to a bust, and at least close to life-size This statuette, carved in the 16th century by a devout convert, was miraculously saved from a great flood, and numerous miracles are ascribe to it. An enormous basilica stands in the centre of the town, and it is to this that over 300,000 of the faithful make their way, in a pilgrimage, for the festival.
