Born into a Catholic family[1], Gibbard spent his formative years in Bremerton, Washington during the time of the grunge musical explosion during the early 1990s. Catholic is an Adjective derived from the Greek adjective '' / 'katholikos' meaning "whole" or "complete". Bremerton is a city in Kitsap County, Washington, United States. Growing up he was influenced by Nirvana, Stone Roses, The Pixies and Ultra Vivid Scene. Nirvana was an American rock band that was formed by singer/guitarist Kurt Cobain and bassist Krist Novoselic in Aberdeen Washington. The Stone Roses were an English Alternative rock band formed in Manchester in 1984 Pixies are an American Alternative rock band formed in Boston Massachusetts in 1986 Ultra Vivid Scene was an Alternative rock band started by Kurt Ralske. He also cites Jack Kerouac as a major influence[2]. Jack Kerouac ( March 12 1922 &ndash October 21 1969) was an American Novelist, Writer, Poet, and He studied Engineering at Western Washington University.
