Baixo Vouga is a NUTS3 Portuguese subregion integrated in the NUTS2 Centro region. Portugal, officially the Portuguese Republic (República Portuguesa is a country on the Iberian Peninsula. CentrO is part of a large commercial development in Oberhausen, Germany called the "Neue Mitte" or "new center" It is centered around the city of Aveiro (pop. 55,673). Other major cities include Águeda (pop. 14,000), Ílhavo (pop. 17,000) and Ovar (18,000). The subregion covers an area of 1,807 km² and has a population of 394,393 inhabitants (2005) for an overall density of 218 hab/km². It's crossed from east to west by the river Vouga. River Vouga is a river in the Center region of Portugal. The source of the Vouga is the Chafariz da Lapa at a height of 864 m in the parish of Quintela, municipality

It is a subregion of heavy industry; its exports include paper, ceramics, chemistry, automobiles, and food.
