A backing band or backup band is a band which accompanies an artist at a live performance or on a recording. A musical ensemble is a group of two or more Musicians who perform instrumental or vocal Music. This can either be an established group or an ad hoc group assembled for the purpose. Ad hoc is a Latin phrase which means "for this [ Purpose ]" Such groups are often made up of session musicians. Session musicians are musicians available for hire as opposed to musicians who are either permanent members of a musical outfit or who have acquired fame in their own right
